Pred rokmi našiel Roman Staník pri La Trinidad turbinikarpus, ktorý sa následne označoval ako "sp. La Trinidad", "panarottoi sp. La Trinidad", "schmiedickeanus sp. La Trinidad, či "schmiedickeanus ssp. stanikii". Hoci mi Roman poslal dobré údaje, strávil som v okolí La Trinidad celý deň a turbiňáky som nenašiel. Ale videl som kvitnúť obrovské množstvá Thelocactus conothelos ssp. argenteus. Škoda len, že tieto skvostné rastliny doma tak nesmierne degenerujú. Ako hovorieval "telokaktusový pápež" Robert Haas "stačí okolo nich prejsť s konvou s vodou a už začínajú rásť".

V okolí dediny som pohyboval vo výškach od 1581 do 1742 m n. m.. Doobeda ukazala meteostanica menej ako 25% vzdušnú vlhkosť a teplotu 31,1°C. Pozoroval som Mammillaria formosa, Echinocereus dubius, Ferocactus hamatacanthus, Opuntia kleiniae, Ferocactus stainesii, Thelocactus multicephalus, Opuntia leptocaulis, Opuntia microdasys, Echinocactus platyacanthus, Mammillaria candida, Thelocactus bueckii ssp. bueckii, Echinocereus pentalophus, Neolloydia conoidea, Stenocactus erectocentrus v kvete, Mammillaria albicoma, Opuntia tunicata, Coryphantha sp., od výšky 1709 m n. m. aj Thelocactus conothelos ssp. argenteus, či Echinocereus pectinatus.
